Did you know Maifest is a traditional celebration of the arrival of Spring? Maifest returns to Hofbräuhaus Buffalo on May 20th. Kick off the day with our FC Bayern vs Leipzig watch party in the Bier Hall at 12:30. The German American Musicians will take the Main Stage from 3-6. Not only are the German American Musicians Buffalo’s BIG German Band, but they are also a not-for-profit cultural organization dedicated to the cultivation and performance of the traditional music and culture of German-speaking lands. For more information, and to donate, please visit www.germanamericanmusicians.com. Did you know the Maipole is decorated to represent a village or borough and its trades?
The Bergholz German Band will follow the German American Musicians on the Main Stage from 7-10. In 1843, five hundred Prussian immigrants settled in Bergholz, near Niagara Falls, New York, bringing with them the traditional musical heritage which their descendants have maintained. The present Blaskapelle (Brass Band) formed in 1971, maintains the best of the old German Folk Tradition, with Colorful uniforms and oom-pah music, and also features more contemporary German arrangements which the Band brought back from tours in Europe. The full wind ensemble produces a solid, harmonious sound; the happy carefree musical expression of “Gemutlichkeit.” Originally made up of fourth and fifth generation German settlers, the band now draws outstanding musicians from throughout the Niagara region.
Maifest concludes with our late-night festivities featuring DJ Stix from 9-12. This will be a 21+ dance party in our Bier Hall!
